It Was Love At First Sound!

Our doctor appointment went great! When the nurse came in she told us that sometimes it is hard to hear the baby's heartbeat early in pregnancy so she didn't want us to panic if she wasn't able to find it. It only took her a couple of seconds to locate the baby's heart beat and WOW! It was pretty loud and strong at 164 bpm, she told us that the fetal heartbeat is normally somewhere between 120 - 175. I think hearing the baby was more exciting than the ultrasound. After hearing the heartbeat the doctor came in to chat with us and to make sure we didn't have any concerns or questions... The doctor said that my nausea should start to taper off now. My next appointment is on November 1st and we are going to do blood work to check for Gestational Diabetes. She said that this is routine to check this early in the pregnancy and we will check again at 26 weeks.

Oh my gosh! You've heard your baby's heartbeat! How wonderful and exciting! Did you cry? I think that would have made me tear up a little bit. I can't wait to find out if I am shopping for a girl or boy!!!

I thought I would cry but I didn't... It was almost a little overwhelming, I didn't mention in the blog that right before she found the baby's heart beat she kept picking up mine...it was kind of bazaar to hear two heart beats coming from my body! Ya know that they say a fast fetal heart beat means that it will be a girl... ; )
