Laundry Room Makeover!

The new year has brought a much needed reorganization of all of our storage areas but the one I want to brag about, I mean show you is the laundry room. We have a pretty small laundry area so we need to have it organized to make it work! The hubby and I spent the entire weekend working on this, he was such a good sport about this project and only complained Sunday night when he wanted to quit "crafting" and start making dinner. Love you hun!

Here is the before pics. I am actually quit embarrassed to post these but in order to show the full "picture" I am willing to. I can't believe we have lived here almost 4 years and I let this room be this ugly for so long!

I have seeing lots of people building storage caddies for in between their washer and driers but I already had this one and it has laundry storage for dirty towels. It is totally functional!

The wall storage for the ironing board and the broom and what nots are awesome and keep things out of the way but I didn't care for them next to each other anymore...doesn't look very "pretty".

I wasn't caring for the key holder or trashcan...

Not liking the wall decoration or the vacuum cleaner in here!

...So we painted the walls with paint leftover from the living area and added the extra shelf.
Cost: $30 for shelf
Paint: Free
Then decided that we need some sort of "curtain" to hang from the clothes bar...I never used it to begin with. Yes, I could make it myself but I'm really not feelin like pulling out the sewing machine so I ran to WalMart and found a shower curtain that I LOVED! I didn't want to get a regular curtain, I wanted a shower curtain so I could wash it easily. I then got Liquid Stitch and velcro.

Cost: shower curtain $19.99, velcro $11 and Liquid Stitch $2

I had this frame and wasn't using it anywhere so...

I pulled out the scrapbook supplies and GLITTER and made this...

Cost: FREE

these two frames were already in the laundry room but I didn't like them so I taped off the glass to paint the frames black

I painted some clothespins white and glittered them up!
I took some leftover shower curtain and wrapped some board and glued the clothespins to it

And here we go!

Cost: Frame were FREE, clothespins-a bag of 100 $3, glitter FREE, fabric-Leftover so basically FREE

I bought an unfinished plaque with hooks on it at WalMart for $3 and painted it with supplies I already had

And here is the finished results!

I use Oxi and Baby Oxi in EVERY load of laundry but hate the bulky tubs that it comes in so I got these canisters at the Container Store, the large one was $7 and the small one was $4. I picked up the cute lamp, that came with the shade, for $10 at WalMart.

we got this collapsible clothes dryer at the Container Store for $10.

I took the remainder of the shower curtain and made a cover for the caddy, it looks SO much better!

see how functional this thing is!!!!

Total Cost Of Project: $99.99

Wow! Your laundry room looks great! Mine is basically a closet that just fits the washer & dryer and nothing else. Would love to have a room!
I was a bit confused about your your comment over on my blog... do you still have my address from winning the give away? Or did you need it again? Can't wait to see what I won! Woohoo!! you are the BEST!

Way to go! What fun and creative ideas. Your room looks great. My favorite part is the idea of putting oxiclean in glass canisters. So classy!

You are so freakin crafty. Will you please fly up here to Washington and re-do my little spaces that need help , using all your crafting wisdom & talent? No, I won't learn or make the time. It's easier just to have someone do it for me. hehe
